The Dream

Chicago Philharmonic and Visceral Dance Chicago

I desire, I thirst in this moment to kiss, weeping tears, that very earth which I left and I do not desire or accept life on any other.
- Fyodor Dostoyevsky, "The Dream of a Ridiculous Man"

Music, dance, and literature converge for a striking, theatrical reimagining of Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s story, “The Dream of a Ridiculous Man.” Chicago Philharmonic and Visceral Dance Chicago’s 2017 premiere was hailed as “a joy” by Chicago Tribune and it “a dream come true” by See Chicago Dance. It  returned to the stage in 2018 where the Chicago Sun-Times called it “fresh proof that live music changes everything when it comes to dance.”

With music selections ranging from Rachmaninoff to Radiohead curated and performed by Chicago Philharmonic, and astonishing choreography by Nick Pupillo performed by Visceral Dance, The Dream brings light and joy to all who experience it.
